The thing that stands out most in a good book is if you understand the emotions that the characters might face and if that might relate to you. My favorite character is Isabel and she is my favorite because she is a slave and was cheated out of her freedom and never gave up and eventually claimed it. Another reason is because she had to take care of her sister and when she was thought to be gone Isabel was destroyed inside but regained her confidence when her sister was still owned by her hated master. This is why Isabel is my favorite character because she is responsible and she sticks with her dream no matter how impossible it may be. I relate to Isabel because I couldn't imagine loosing my younger sister like she had.
